The Backyard That Changed Everything for the Karp Family

Small Spaces, Big Impact: The Karp Family Backyard Transformation in Elizabeth, Colorado

When the Karp family moved into their new home in Elizabeth, Colorado, their backyard was nothing but dirt and weeds. They dreamed of a warm, inviting space where they could relax, entertain, and enjoy Colorado evenings and that’s where EarthWorks Landscaping came in.

Designing a Functional and Inviting Retreat

The goal was to turn a small backyard into a space that felt both functional and expansive. After collaborating closely with the Karps, our team designed an outdoor area perfect for gatherings yet intimate enough for everyday relaxation.

From Bare Ground to Backyard Oasis

We started with a 400-square-foot stamped concrete patio in a natural flagstone pattern, adding warmth and durability to the design. A custom fire pit area with a retaining wall became the heart of the space ideal for family time, coffee mornings, or cozy nights under the stars.

To bring balance and natural beauty, we installed 400 square feet of Kentucky bluegrass sod surrounded by mountain granite and Colorado River cobblestone, tying everything together with Colorado’s signature rustic charm. Finishing touches included two trees, eight shrubs, and six ornamental grasses, adding life and color throughout the seasons.

A Space Built to Be Enjoyed

What was once an empty patch of dirt is now a vibrant backyard retreat where the Karp family gathers almost daily. It’s the perfect example of how even a small space can make a big impact with thoughtful design, quality materials, and expert craftsmanship.
